Se represents herself apart from the symbolic, patriarchal order, creating her own means of representation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She moves from the subtlety and passivity to an aggressive confrontation. This work pairs her up with artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Kiki Smith, Eva Hesse or Judy Chicago to whom the necessity of exploring their identity and intimacy drives them to the use of a metaphorical iconology of the female body managing to generate alternative representations to those that by norm had been assigned to the female body, showing the experience of being body.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a onclick=\"xcollapse('X8995');return false;\" href=\"#\">Curriculum<\/a><\/p>\n<div id=\"X8995\" style=\"display: none; background: transparent;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 1995 Miriam Medrez had her first solo exhibition at Marco Museum (Contemporary Art Museum of Monterrey) entitled Asalto de Recuerdos (Memories Assault).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Four years later, she received the award for Sculpture at the 4th FEMSA Art Biennal of Monterrey 1998; the winning piece was called Trayectos (Pathways). MARCO featured again an exhibition on Medrez&#8217;s work in 2008, La Escultura de la Piel (Sculpture of Skin).
