Raúl Cerrillo (Mexico City, 1977) is a multidisciplinary artist dedicated to self-observation as a way to access and understand the sophisticated technology of being and the human body. He explores different states of consciousness, with the creative process in painting being one of them. He creates to seek the unexpected beauty of chance encounters and believes that the human body is the greatest development ever created—the perfect machine, responsible for bringing awareness and divinity to matter on the planet. For Raúl, art is like singing inwardly to awaken the spirit.

He completed his academic studies at the National School of Visual Arts “La Esmeralda” (INBA) in Mexico and at the Institute of Visual Arts in Puebla. His solo exhibitions have traveled across Mexico, and his works have been included in group shows in Austin, Barcelona, Milan, Paris, Venice, and London. He has received national grants, as well as several national painting awards and honorable mentions. In 2018, he was awarded the National Painting Prize Alfredo Zalce in Morelia, Michoacán.
