Daniel Lezama (Mexico City, 1968). He graduated from the National School of Plastic Arts (Faculty of Arts and Design) of the UNAM. In 2001 he won the Acquisition Award of the X Tamayo Biennial. He has been a recipient of support from FONCA and CONACULTA many times and currently holds the SNCA scholarship for the third time. In 2008 he exhibited the retrospective La Madre Pródiga, at the Museum of Mexico City, published a large-scale monograph of his work in Hilario Galguera Ediciones. In 2011 he presented Cartas de Viaje in the Gallery Hilario Galguera, host of the publication of the book Viajeros, Editorial Jovis Art, Germany. To date he has participated in more than a hundred exhibitions, including private and collective exhibitions, including: Grandes Maestros of the 20th Century, the MARCO Museum, the 2nd Beijing Biennial; El Mito de Dos Volcanes, at the Palace of Fine Arts, Imperio, at the Spinnerei in Leipzig, Germany; Imagenes de la Patria, in the MUNAL and the MUNE; Alimentado el planeta / Energía para la vida in the Mexico Pavilion at EXPO Milano 2015; and the X Mercosul Biennial. His work is part of numerous public and private collections in Mexico and abroad, among which stand out: the MAM collection of the INBA, La Murderme Collection in London, The Museum of the Neighborhood in New York, the Art Museum of Dallas, and the Essl Sammlung. Likewise, he has dabbled in the mexican artistic medium as opinion leader, jury, curator and tutor of young generations of plastic artists.
